Have you ever wondered why our elbows and knees turn darker than the rest of our body?
It is largely due to the formation of thick and dead skin due to friction or pressure in elbows or knees or in ankles that causes the skin in these areas to look darker in appearance.
Another reason for the same is getting too much sun and then not exfoliating your skin regularly.
Here are some tried and tested home remedies for the same.
Sugar, Olive Oil and Lemon
Mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with 1 tablespoon of sugar, to it add juice of half a lemon.
Mix this well to make a thick paste.
Apply this mix on the dark knees and elbow
Rub the skin using this mixture for about five minutes.
Wash using mild soap and water
Sugar in this remedy works to exfoliate the skin and olive oil will moisturize the skin while the lime juice helps lighten the skin colour.
Besan and Curd
Mix 2 tablespoon of curd with one tablespoon of Besan or Gram flour and apply to your knees and elbows.
Besan works as a natural skin softener and removes tan. With curd it gives the skin a glow and makes it fairer.
