A BRUISE is usually a red, purplish red or blue-black mark on the skin or a tender bump on the skin which is caused due to an injury.
Medical term for Bruises is contusions.
Bruise is an injury to the soft tissue due to impact. This causes capillaries- small blood vessels under the skin to break. Red blood cells then leak out of the capillaries and collect under the skin accounting for the color of the bruise.
A Bruise generally occurs beneath the unbroken skin and is visible through skin tissue because it is translucent.
The walls of the blood vessels become thin with age and may become so fragile that a bruise may appear even though you have not hurt yourself with a high impact or force.
The remedy for a bruise is most effective RIGHT AFTER the injury while the bruise is still fresh and reddish in color.
